The Healing Power of Qigong
I’m honored to share the healing power of Qigong with you. My journey began with the teachings of Master Chunyi Lin, founder of Spring Forest Qigong (SFQ), where I discovered just how transformative this practice can be. Through SFQ’s blend of gentle movement, breathwork, and energy healing, I experienced profound benefits that inspired me to become a Certified Practice Group Leader. Now, I’m excited to pass on these tools to support your own wellness journey. You’re warmly invited to join my weekly Qigong class or book a private healing session for a more personalized experience.
What is Qigong?
Qigong (also spelled as “Chi Gong”, “Chi Kong”, or “Qi Gong”) is an ancient Chinese scientific study of the power of Qi in the body and the universe, and of how to use this power to benefit all aspects of life. "Qi" is an energy with intelligence, a form of life force. ”Qi” is the energy in a person’s body, “Gong” means “the work of” or “the practice of”. In China, the study and practice of transforming the energy (qi) to live a life of optimum health, wellness, and happiness came to be called qigong.
How does Qigong work?
Qigong starts from the foundation that everything is energy, including you! Every cell in your body is a form of energy, you are an energy being. Your thoughts and feelings are forms of energy too.
In Qigong, illness—or “dis-ease”—is understood as the result of energy blockages in the body. Everything is energy, including sickness, whether it shows up physically, mentally, or emotionally. Common sources of these blockages include stress and unresolved emotions, which can interrupt the body’s natural ability to heal. When energy (Qi) can’t flow freely, it can lead to imbalances, breakdowns in your system, and eventually, illness. One blockage can even create others in different areas of the body over time. Qigong teaches that specific movements, combined with breath and intention, can help clear these blockages and restore the body’s energy flow—supporting natural healing from within.
I resonated with Spring Forest Qigong (SFQ), as Master Chunyi Lin combined his 40+ years of learning about the human body, Qigong, and studying with several of the finest Qigong Masters in China. He created a system of movements for modern humans, with the goal of optimizing the essence of the practice so people could spend less time and achieve more. He combined his expert knowledge of biology, Qigong, philosophy, and science, into movements that contribute to stimulating energy flow and removing energy blockages. While the older systems of Qigong were a mystery, required rigid discipline and were challenging, Master Lin has created movements that are easy to learn and easy to do, requiring no prior experience. Even individuals who are experiencing a lack of mobility can partake.
The Spring Forest Qigong (SFQ) movement meditation includes both movement (yang) and stillness (yin) components. Each can be practiced on its own, but when combined, they create a powerful synergy that helps the body return to balance more quickly and effectively.

But does it really work?
Medical research continues to explore the benefits of Qigong, including the specific techniques taught in Spring Forest Qigong (SFQ) by Master Chunyi Lin.
The Mayo Clinic and other respected institutions have conducted clinical studies on SFQ’s healing methods and active exercises. One long-term study at the Mayo Clinic documented the effects of external Qigong on reducing chronic pain over a five-year period. Two additional studies highlighted the positive impact of Qigong movement practices on depression, emotional distress, and chronic pain.
If you’re interested in diving deeper, you’ll find links to these studies under the Resources section at the end of this post.
Many SFQ students have reported incredible results after a consistent practice of only 5-10 minutes per day.

This gentle, non-invasive practice comes from Traditional Chinese Medicine and is based on the idea that physical and emotional imbalances are often caused by blocked or disrupted energy (Qi) in the body. During your session,Universal Qi is used to help clear these blockages—without physical contact—so energy can flow freely through your body’s natural pathways (meridians). This promotes deep relaxation, balance, and overall well-being.
